Natural gas prices at Algonquin Citygate in New England traded at a discount to Henry Hub from April through July 2026, averaging 43 cents/MMBtu lower, as cheaper Appalachian and Canadian supplies met weaker regional demand, the U.S. Energy Information Administrationreports.
Canadian gas imports into New England reached a record 0.4 Bcf/d, while regional gas consumption fell 5% year over year. Lower gas-fired electricity generation, along with rising wind and solar output, also reduced demand and helped keep prices down.
