Moog Inc. and Niron Magnetics will jointly showcase their collaboration at the AUSA 2026 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., highlighting rare-earth-free actuator solutions for U.S. Army applications. Moog is testing and qualifying Niron’s Iron Nitride permanent magnets for electromechanical actuators used in land vehicles, guided munitions, and other defense systems.
The partnership, announced in December 2025, is focused on reducing the U.S. defense industry’s dependence on foreign-controlled rare-earth supply chains. Niron’s Iron Nitride technology eliminates the need for rare-earth materials while providing a high-performance permanent magnet alternative.
At AUSA, the companies will display Iron Nitride magnets in tested motor hardware and discuss system integration, qualification timelines, and supply availability. Niron has been producing magnets and conducting customer qualification since 2025, with commercial production expected within the next 18 months.
