Auto dealers remain profitable despite ongoing uncertainty around EV adoption and tariffs. The $7,500 EV lease credit, set to expire on September 30, 2025, is currently driving sales but could trigger a “cliff” once it ends, reports Mike Stanton, president and CEO of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA). NADA is actively lobbying on issues such as tariffs, right-to-repair legislation, and catalytic converter theft, while also defending the franchise system against direct-to-consumer sales models. Programs like NADA 20 Groups continue to help dealers improve performance, and recent NADA Shows emphasize the growing importance of political involvement for securing the industry’s future.
