The United States is allowing a Russian oil tanker carrying about 650,000–730,000 barrels of crude to reach Cuba, effectively easing the de facto fuel blockade Washington had imposed on the island amid its energy crisis, according to Reuters. The Russian‑flagged Anatoly Kolodkin entered Cuban waters and is expected to dock at Matanzas, providing much‑needed oil after months without imports.
US President Donald Trump signaled he has “no problem” with the shipment, despite earlier threats to penalize countries sending fuel to Cuba, reflecting a potential shift in policy as the island’s energy shortages deepen.
