
The U.S. live concert and entertainment industry has been negatively impacted by ticket scalpers and middlemen who exploit fans and artists by charging exorbitant fees. These scalpers use bots to acquire tickets and resell them at inflated prices, depriving artists of earnings and burdening consumers with excessive costs. In response, the White House has issued the Executive Order “COMBATING UNFAIR PRACTICES IN THE LIVE ENTERTAINMENT MARKET” to address these issues. The Administration is committed to enforcing competition laws, ensuring price transparency, and preventing deceptive practices in the ticketing industry. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and other agencies will work to protect consumers and artists, and report back on their actions within 180 days.
