Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia continued attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a proposed energy ceasefire, according to the Associated Press. Zelenskyy said Kyiv was willing to halt strikes on Russian energy facilities if Moscow agreed to stop its own attacks, but the Kremlin has not confirmed its commitment to the arrangement.
Following the announcement, Russian strikes reportedly hit energy facilities in Kharkiv, a gas production site and a civilian gas station. Zelenskyy urged Washington to press Moscow to honor the proposed agreement, warning that Ukraine would retaliate if attacks continued through the winter.
The dispute comes as both countries continue targeting energy infrastructure, threatening fuel supplies and electricity generation ahead of colder weather. Meanwhile, European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas expressed skepticism about Russia’s willingness to respect a ceasefire. Russian and Ukrainian forces also continued drone attacks, with civilian casualties reported in Ukraine.
