The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that U.S. propane exports reached a record 2 million barrels per day (b/d) in the first half of 2026, up 11% from the same period in 2025. Exports peaked at 2.1 million b/d in April, driven by rising U.S. production, strong Asian demand, and disruptions to Middle Eastern supplies.
Growing U.S. propane production has kept prices competitive globally, supporting exports to India and other South Asian markets. However, exports to China have declined because of tariffs, while Panama Canal capacity constraints and drought conditions could limit further growth.
