Sujita Sinha of Interesting Engineering reports that YASA, a British innovator in axial flux motors, has opened a new high-tech factory near Oxford capable of producing 25,000 motors annually. Known for powering vehicles like the Ferrari SF90 and Lamborghini Revuelto, YASA’s lightweight, high-torque motors are now a key part of Mercedes-Benz’s EV strategy. The new facility boosts production efficiency and cements YASA’s role in the future of high-performance electric mobility. Sinha writes:

Axial flux motors are gaining serious attention in the electric mobility world. These compact “pancake-style” motors are being hailed for their ability to deliver high performance in a small, lightweight package. Now, British innovator YASA is taking this technology to the next level.

YASA has opened a new “super factory” in Yarnton, just outside Oxford, UK. The facility is designed to manufacture more than 25,000 axial flux electric motors every year. […]

This month, YASA officially launched its upgraded production facility. The 60,000-square-foot (5,574-square-meter) site represents about US$16 million (£12 million) investment. According to the company, it is now the most advanced axial flux motor manufacturing plant in the world. […]

As the industry shifts further into electric mobility, compact and powerful motors like those from YASA are becoming essential. The company’s combination of academic roots, technical innovation, and industrial capability makes it a key player in this transformation.
