According to Bloomberg, Iraq is moving thousands of truckloads of oil through Syria as it seeks alternatives to the Strait of Hormuz, a key energy route affected by regional tensions. The overland shipments have turned Syria into an important transit hub, with oil moving toward Mediterranean export terminals.
The shift shows how Middle East energy producers are adapting by creating new supply routes to reduce reliance on vulnerable maritime chokepoints. Longer-term solutions, including possible pipeline projects, are also being explored.
