The US Department of the Interior has transferred about 1.4 million acres of land along Alaska’s Dalton Utility Corridor to the State of Alaska, advancing long-standing statehood land entitlements under the Alaska Statehood Act. The move completes more than 96% of Alaska’s total land selection rights and gives the state greater control over key resource-rich territory.

Officials said the transfer supports expanded development of energy and infrastructure projects, including the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System and proposed projects such as the Alaska LNG initiative and the Ambler Road. The corridor includes critical transportation and energy routes in northern Alaska.

State and federal leaders described the handover as a major step toward boosting economic development, resource extraction, and energy production, while further shifting land management authority from federal to state control.
