British police arrested five London-based British men, aged 23–25, near RAF Fairford after three vans were reported heading toward the airbase, which is used by U.S. forces for operations against Iran. The men are being questioned on suspicion of terrorism and explosives offenses, while bomb-disposal teams examined the vehicles.
Investigators are still determining the motive. An Iran-linked connection is reportedly being considered, alongside other possibilities, but British authorities have not confirmed any foreign involvement. Iran has denied involvement. Police emphasized that the investigation remains in its early stages.
A local farmer’s alert triggered the police response, leading to the arrests and the precautionary evacuation of about 85 homes. Security has also been increased around U.S.-associated facilities in Britain.
