Your Survival Guy and Gal were in Boston recently to visit our kids. Itโs funny how much they want to see us when weโre in town. Suddenly, everyoneโs available for dinner.
Iโm not complaining. But what made this trip memorable was that our dog Stanton seemed like a bit of a city dog, smiling and wagging at everyone, which makes long walks really long. Thatโs ok, the dog-friendly hotel we stayed at treated the three of us like long lost friends, one more than the other two.
As you know from my posts on Paris, there are areas of the city that are the prize jewel while others are not, which is sadly the case in Boston, as you feel like youโre in a war zone dodging chaos at Mass. and Cass. And then thereโs the beautiful Boston Common that truly reminds us of our walks in the City of Light. Plus, we had Stan.
Donโt be in a rush if youโre driving into Boston. No matter what the time or day, thereโs traffic. And once youโre in the city, cars are way down on the totem pole below the buses, bikers in bike lanes, and pedestrians in crosswalks where no one looks left or right before crossing. Good luck.
Action Line: Take a staycation in your city near you and maybe keep to the beaten path.
