The US Department of the Interior reported that offshore energy production reached a record 714 million barrels in 2025, marking the highest annual output on record.
Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum highlighted that regulatory reforms, streamlined processes, and responsible development policies have accelerated investment, particularly in the Gulf of America, while maintaining environmental and safety standards.
“American energy leadership is a cornerstone of our economic strength and national security,” said Secretary Burgum. “This record production reflects the hard work of American energy workers and the strength of our offshore resources, helping drive economic growth, support good-paying jobs and deliver affordable, reliable energy to families and businesses.”
The administration’s focus on expanding domestic energy resources aims to strengthen the economy, support jobs, lower energy costs, and reinforce US energy leadership globally.
