Hugging Face, an AI platform known for its open-source machine-learning models and tools, has introduced Microduck, a $399 AI-powered robot designed to make robotics more accessible for learning. The small robot can pick up objects with its beak and includes a camera, microphone, speaker, and Wi-Fi.
The launch comes as Nvidia is reportedly acquiring Hugging Face for about $12.9 billion, according to The Information and Reuters, although the companies have not publicly confirmed the deal. Nvidia was already an investor in Hugging Face, and the acquisition would expand its reach beyond AI chips into open-source AI models and developer tools.
Microduck is Hugging Face’s second robot, following Reachy Mini, and the company is targeting 50,000 sales.
