You know from here, here, and here about the dangers of skiing Mt. Washington, NH, and how improvement in equipment has opened the backcountry to more and more people.

When you consider the number of rescues needed to help those who perhaps should have stayed home or in the lodge, and then consider those who got lucky (without a rescue), it makes you wonder what we donโ€™t hear about.

Youโ€™ll see what I mean in the video below, captured about a month ago from a cam positioned on neighboring Wildcat Mountain.

Action Line: Call it what you will: luck, stupidity, or thrill seeking. No thanks. All three require a word I prefer to avoid: risk. And when it comes to money, especially your retirement money, managing risk is job one. When you want to talk about risk in your portfolio, email me at ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com. Andย click here to subscribe to my free monthlyย Survive & Thriveย letter. My most recent letterย talks about bonds, when to buy and sell, and gold miners.
