OK, hereโ€™s the deal. For some of you, even a large swath of youโ€”my client baseโ€”the reality of school was this: It wasnโ€™t for you.

Sure, you showed up, but you werenโ€™t really into school. You were into cars, music, and friends. Which brings me to my Special Bonus: When it comes to graduating from work to retirement, like school, youโ€™re just not too into retiring.

You like what you do, and therefore, you will never really retire.

To your dismay my father-in-law Dick Young no longer writes Richard C. Youngโ€™s Intelligence Report. That doesnโ€™t mean heโ€™s retired. Far from it.

Not a day goes by that, when I open my email, I donโ€™t find an email from him or receive a phone call.

โ€œSurvival Guy,โ€ he states.

โ€œTell me what your clients are asking.โ€

Before I can answer, heโ€™ll say, โ€œTell them what Iโ€™m doing. Tell them Iโ€™m putting a large sum in this.โ€

Click.

Just yesterday, a long-time client from the Deep South, who runs a successful business with his son, said, โ€œYou know, I was talking with my son yesterday and I told him I just canโ€™t relate to what youโ€™re writing about retirement. Iโ€™ll never retire because I like coming to the office, and I like what I do.โ€

โ€œKeep up the good work, though,โ€ he said.

Click.

Heโ€™s 94 years young.

Action Line: If you find something you love to do, itโ€™s never โ€œwork.โ€ Youโ€™re lucky. When youโ€™re ready to talk money, Iโ€™ll be around. Email me at ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com.
