UPS is investing $48 million to expand its global healthcare logistics network with 27 temperature-controlled freight cross-dock facilities across the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The facilities are designed to support the rapid movement of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines, and advanced therapies while maintaining strict cold-chain requirements.

The new sites will strengthen UPS’s end-to-end healthcare logistics capabilities by reducing shipment handoffs, improving visibility, and enhancing control over high-value medical products. The company says the expansion will help ensure safe and reliable delivery of treatments that require precise temperature ranges throughout transit.

The investment comes as demand for biologics, cell and gene therapies, mRNA-based medicines, and GLP-1 treatments continues to grow. UPS says the expanded network builds on recent healthcare-focused acquisitions and is intended to support the increasing complexity of global pharmaceutical supply chains while helping protect critical treatments from temperature-related disruptions.
