The U.S. Census Bureau reported that U.S. retail e-commerce sales reached an estimated $326.7 billion in the first quarter of 2026, after seasonal adjustment. That was a 2.7% increase from the fourth quarter of 2025 and a 9.8% increase from the first quarter of 2025.
Total U.S. retail sales were estimated at $1.929 trillion during the quarter, meaning e-commerce accounted for 16.9% of all retail sales. Overall retail sales increased 1.5% from the previous quarter and 3.9% from a year earlier.
The report shows that online retail continues to grow faster than overall retail sales. On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, first-quarter e-commerce sales totaled $302.3 billion, up 9.7% from a year earlier.
