Weston Blasi of MarketWatch reports that employees are as eager to bring AI into the workplace as companies are, a new report from Microsoft says. Blasi writes:

One of the major fears with widespread use of artificial intelligence in the workplace is that companies will attempt to harness its power to cut labor costs and thereby threaten workersโ€™ employment.

But a new report from Microsoft MSFT suggests that workers are as eager to bring AI into the workplace as companies are.

Theย 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Reportย found that 75% of knowledge workers โ€” defined as employees who typically deal with information at work rather than doing manual labor โ€” use some form of AI at their jobs. Among those who use AI at work, 90% say it saves them time, 85% say it helps them focus on their more important work and 84% say it helps them be more creative. […]

Microsoft uses AI as much as any company in the world and hasย invested more than $10 billion into OpenAI.

The study was conducted by independent research firm Edelman Data & Intelligence from Feb. 15 to Mar. 28, 2024, and included the responses of 31,000 full-time or self-employed workers. The survey was constructed in association with Microsoft-owned LinkedIn, according to theย reportโ€™s methodology.
