Brian Sozzi of Yahoo Finance reports that former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger admits Nvidia holds a dominant lead in the chip industry, crediting CEO Jensen Huang’s strong execution and the company’s deep tech moats. Speaking on Yahoo Finance, Gelsinger said dethroning Nvidia would require being “10x better.” He was ousted in December after Intel’s weak AI progress and poor financials. New CEO Lip-Bu Tan, a former Cadence chief, is expected to unveil his vision and AI strategy on April 24, amid continued pressure to compete with Nvidia.


Now that Pat Gelsinger is no longer occupying the corner office at embattled chipmaker Intel, he can acknowledge one thing about the semiconductor industry.

“I’ve always viewed that there’s sort of this 10x rule, where if you’re not 10x better than the king, you’re not going to displace that. Here you have to be at least sustainably 10x better, and then people will say, okay, yeah, I’m going to go invest in that,” Gelsinger added.
