FedEx is expanding into defense and government logistics through a partnership with the U.S. Army to modernize its supply-chain operations at 23 industrial facilities, Freight Waves reports. Through FedEx Dataworks, the company will introduce predictive analytics, AI, and next-day delivery capabilities to improve inventory management, demand forecasting, and transportation routing. The Army also plans to integrate FedEx’s platform with Google’s secure cloud infrastructure.

The partnership is part of the Army’s Strategic Capital Initiative, which aims to modernize military infrastructure through private-sector investment and commercial expertise. FedEx has also hired retired Vice Admiral Dion English to lead its defense and government logistics business, strengthening its position in the defense sector.
