Your Survival Guy is preparing to depart for Paris and is a little uneasy about the headlines. But as I’ve said before, Paris is the crown jewel of France, and from what I’ve observed, the arrondissements spiraling like an escargot around the Seine are well protected. Still, travelers need to stay aware of their surroundings and avoid looking too much like tourists.
The carnage in France’s bond market is no surprise. Neither are the riots and protests. On one of our many trips, I recall seeing certain protest days marked on the calendar. But with elections next year, politicians calling for violence, bonds in retreat, and the far left urging the ECB to forgive debt, this time feels different. Stay tuned.
