The US Energy Information Administration reported that the United States exported nearly 50,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel and other biofuels—including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)—during the second half of 2025, equal to about 20% of total production. Canada received roughly half of these exports, while most of the remainder went to Europe, particularly the Netherlands.

The new export data gives a clearer picture of domestic renewable diesel consumption by separating exported volumes that were previously counted as U.S. supply. Most exports originated from the Gulf Coast and West Coast regions.

Exports dropped to below 35,000 barrels per day in early 2026 as producers reduced output while awaiting updated federal Renewable Fuel Standard blending targets, which were finalized in March 2026.
