The US Department of Commerce reported that retail and food services sales totaled $735.0 billion in December 2025, remaining essentially unchanged from November (±0.4%) and up 2.4% from December 2024.

For the full year, total sales rose 3.7% over 2024, while the fourth-quarter (Oct–Dec) period grew 3.0% year-over-year. Retail trade sales were flat from November and up 2.1% from last year, with nonstore retailers (e-commerce) climbing 5.3% and food services and drinking places increasing 4.7% compared with December 2024. The estimates are seasonally adjusted and account for holiday and trading-day differences, but not price changes.
