The US Department of Energy has awarded over $94 million to eight companies to accelerate the deployment of advanced small modular reactors (SMRs) and strengthen the domestic nuclear supply chain.

Here are the companies selected in the DOE SMR program:

  • Constellation SMR Development, LLC
  • Nebraska Public Power District
  • BWXT Nuclear Energy, Inc.
  • Container Technologies Industries, LLC
  • Framatome U.S. Government Solutions, LLC
  • Global Nuclear Fuel Americas, LLC
  • American Forgemasters Company
  • Scot Forge Company

The funding supports early site development in New York and Nebraska, along with upgrades to manufacturing and fuel production facilities across several states. It aims to speed up licensing, expand component production, and reduce barriers to building new Gen III+ SMRs.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to expand nuclear energy capacity in the 2030s to meet rising electricity demand and improve grid reliability.
