You speak. Your Survival Guy listens. Because there are plenty of you out thereโthe fairly wealthy and highly successfulโwhoโve won the war. Youโve saved โtil it hurt. Now you have something to show for it. And itโs time to have some fun.
In my meetings with you and in our regular talks, I hear about the wonderful careers you had or are wrapping up (note to self: work for as long as you can). You know the names of customers, patients, clients, and co-workers, many of whom you helped along the way. You helped educate them, for example, about the road less traveled. The path of living well and within your means. To be smart with their money.
In my conversations with you, you tell me about the projects youโre working on, the trips youโre taking, the ones youโve returned from, what worked, and what didnโt. Iโm just taking notes. Like this note, thanks to you. โSelf, be careful driving in Costa Rica. Itโs a free for all. Flocks of mopeds are as thick as the jungle. Theyโre everywhere. Youโll be lucky to escape unscathed.โ
You are the ones I listen to. You tell me about Elon Muskโs Starlink, which you put to good use this winter on your boat and will do the same RVing this summer. Your Survival Guy doesnโt know a thing about Starlink, but Iโm taking your word for it because a) youโre a retired software engineer/entrepreneur, and b) Iโm not.
Action Line: Keep your advice coming. Iโm listening. Thank you.
