If you’re worried about jet lag going to Paris, don’t worry, you can have a plan B. Arrive by boat.

Your Survival Guy and Gal did just that a couple of years ago, leaving New York and arriving in England days later. And we weren’t exactly roughing it on the Queen Mary 2.

Doing a transatlantic crossing gives you plenty of time to adjust to your new time zones as you lose an hour daily along your journey. It takes some endurance to get used to cocktail hour being earlier every day, but someone’s gotta do it.

Plus, you’ll meet an amazing staff that is assigned to your table for the week, and you’ll learn so much about where they’re from and their tricks of the trade. One server put us on to South African Syrah, which can be a real find and a great value.

Once you reach land (that’s fun to write), London is a couple of hours away. We spent a few days there seeing the sights and then took the train via the Chunnel to Paris. Once there, we made our way through the busy scrum to our transfer vehicle and were into Paris traffic in no time.

Arriving at Le Bristol never felt so good. Whoever said it’s about the journey may not have ever stayed at Le Bristol. More to come tomorrow.

Action Line: Getting to Europe doesn’t need to be about sleep deprivation. Get your Zs with an Atlantic crossing and be rested so you can hit the ground refreshed and relaxed. Tell me about your adventures by emailing me at ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com.
