Chinese automakers are rapidly gaining popularity in Britain with low-cost SUVs dubbed “Temu Range Rovers” because they closely resemble luxury Range Rover and Land Rover models at much lower prices. Jaecoo’s $40,800 Jaecoo 7 has led the surge, even becoming Britain’s best-selling car in March.
The trend is putting pressure on Jaguar Land Rover as Chinese brands such as Jaecoo, BYD and Zeekr attract buyers with lower prices, advanced technology, hybrid options and long warranties, according to The Telegraph. While JLR says its heritage, engineering and luxury appeal set it apart, the rise of these “Temu Range Rovers” shows how Chinese automakers are increasingly challenging established Western brands.
