US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that US forces conducted a new round of strikes against Iran on July 7, targeting more than 80 sites with precision weapons in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
The strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) small boats to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten international shipping. CENTCOM said the action followed attacks on three commercial vessels and described them as violations of a ceasefire and freedom of navigation.
CENTCOM stated that US forces remain prepared to respond to further actions by Iran that threaten maritime security and global commerce.
