Greek shipping billionaire George Prokopiou has moved several tankers near the Strait of Hormuz, positioning them for a possible reopening of the vital oil shipping route, according to the Financial Times. His company, Dynacom Tankers, has already been among the first to send vessels through the strait despite ongoing security risks.

Shipping traffic through Hormuz has fallen sharply because of the Iran-US-Israel conflict, with dozens of vessels reportedly affected. Iran has threatened to maintain or expand restrictions and proposed charging transit fees, adding further uncertainty for global energy markets.

The FT highlights how some shipowners are preparing to take advantage of a reopening, while others prefer to wait for a more stable political resolution before resuming normal operations.
