A Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker has exited the Strait of Hormuz after briefly going dark on tracking systems, marking a rare and closely watched transit amid ongoing regional tensions, according to Bloomberg reporting.

The vessel initially appeared to approach the strategic waterway between Iran and Oman before disabling its AIS signal and turning back, raising uncertainty about whether it would proceed. It later reappeared and successfully continued into the Gulf of Oman, highlighting the volatility and security risks affecting energy shipping routes in the region.

The movement comes as LNG shipments from Qatar face heightened disruption due to broader geopolitical conflict that has sharply reduced traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global energy trade.

The incident underscores both the fragility of supply routes and the cautious, sometimes covert, navigation strategies being used by tanker operators to move cargo safely.
