Are you watching the show “Drops of God?” We are. And it’s excellent. But I’ll have to point out it has subtitles, which can make it challenging to time bites of dinner and read the screen. But it’s worth the challenge.
Speaking of which, this is why Your Survival Guy and Gal began watching “Drops of God” a little while ago, but didn’t get hooked. I hope you do, and if you’ve seen it, you know what I’m talking about.
For any retirees wondering how your “greedy” kids are going to inherit your wealth, I refer to “Drops of God” as the “Squid Games” for estate planning. It takes managing your estate from the grave to a whole new level. What’s at stake here is the most valuable wine collection in the world, and it’s up to the deceased’s surviving daughter and his number one student to “win” the wine contest to inherit his fortune.
A word of caution: The show toggles between settings in Japan and France, which makes choosing what to eat and drink a bit of a challenge. When we stayed at L’Hôtel De Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, we had the succulent Poulet de Bresse Roti carved table side, which is why if we’re thinking France, we’ll throw some chicken thighs and French fries in the Aga, and spinach, olive oil, and garlic on the stove top to be paired with a Dry Farm Wine from our cellar.
If it’s Japan on the mind, then it must be takeout from our favorite noodle place paired with a cool, crisp sake. Whatever you decide, I’ll note, you may find yourself savoring every sip, holding the drops of God in your mouth like you’re a Master Sommelier.
Action Line: Create your own collection of Drops of God in your personal wine cellar and take the time to turn an ordinary dinner into an extraordinary one. Need tips on what to buy? Your Survival Guy is at your service. Email me at ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com.
